The Heart Behind The Brand
I'm Karen. Think of me as the older best friend who's already made the mistakes.
I'm Karen Evers-Foo. I'm 55, I live in Singapore, and I write the books I needed and couldn't find.
For years I looked for guidance that understood the whole of my life — the Western advice that told me to "put myself first" as though that didn't feel like a betrayal of everyone who raised me, and the Eastern expectations that told me to endure quietly as though that were the same thing as being good. Nothing I read seemed to know that a person could hold both. So I started writing for the woman standing in that gap, because I was her.

What I actually do
I'm a life coach, trained in psychology and counselling, with years of sitting with people while they work out what they want. I've been married twice — the first one taught me what I'd stopped asking for, and the second is eighteen years of getting it wonderfully right. I've raised a family inside Asian expectations while working under Western ones. I've been through perimenopause without a single person warning me what was coming.
None of that makes me a doctor, and I'll never pretend otherwise.
The line I don't cross
Radiance Through the Change talks about hormone therapy, symptoms, nutrition and when to get to a clinic quickly. It does that because women deserve to walk into an appointment knowing the vocabulary, not because I'm going to tell you what to take.
So here's my promise, in plain terms. The medical facts in my books come from published guidance from recognised medical bodies — and where the evidence is thin or a traditional remedy is more comfort than cure, I say so on the page rather than letting you assume. My own experience shapes the tone, the jokes and the choice of what matters. It never shapes the facts. And every health book ends by sending you to your own doctor, better prepared than you'd have been otherwise.

A note for the site
Written from an Asian heart — open to everyone
This is the line I'd keep if I had to throw the rest away.
My books are written for people who know what it costs to disappoint a parent. Who have a mother's voice in their head at 3am. Who are trying to feed a family without turning dinner into another project to feel guilty about. Who need language for face, and duty, and the eldest child's particular burden — named with tenderness, not diagnosed as dysfunction.
But nothing in them locks anyone out. If the pull between the people you love and the person you are makes sense to you, you're already in the right place.
Pull up a chair. There's tea on.
